Summer School Courses! A Note from the Dean of Academics: William Bertain
Greetings, Anthem Prep Families! If you are interested in signing up your student for either Algebra I or Latin I Summer School courses, the deadline to sign up is Monday, May 20th at 3 pm. Please be aware that our ability to offer the course is contingent on having enough students sign up to make it viable. The sign up portals for each course can be accessed as follows: Latin I Summer School and Algebra I Summer School.

Reminder: Semi-Formal Events Dress Code
There are specific, semi-formal dress requirements for special events, including periodic fine arts concerts and the end-of-year ceremonies (such as commencement and graduation). Concert dress is, for boys and girls, white and black. Boys wear white collared dress shirts with black slacks and black dress shoes. Girls wear a white blouse with black dress slacks and black dress shoes (open-toed shoes and reasonable heels are permitted). The semi-formal dress code for boys is: dress slacks (no jeans or patched pocket pants), a collared dress shirt, dark socks, dress shoes (no sneakers or sandals). For commencement, graduating 8th graders must wear a tie. No dyed hair or hats. Hair should be trimmed appropriately. The semi-formal dress code for girls is as follows: modest-length skirts or dresses with hems that approach the knee, or appropriately fitting dress slacks; bare midriffs are not acceptable. Modestly-cut sleeveless tops/dresses are allowed; ladies may not wear strapless, spaghetti-strap, or tank tops. Girls should wear dress shoes. No flip-flops. No dyed hair.

Lost and Found
Please start checking the Lost and Found, located right next to the front office, for lost text books, notebooks, water bottles, lunch boxes and sweaters.  All items will be donated at the end of the school day on May 24, 2019.

 

Consumables
Please remind your student, if he/she has borrowed a consumable book or calculator this year, to return it to the front office and sign it back in.  Families will be charged for any borrowed consumables or calculators that are not returned by the last day of school on May 24, 2019.  Consumables are NOT TEXTBOOKS – these are literary classics students read each year.  If you are unsure if a consumable book has been borrowed from the school, look for a red handwritten number beginning with AP on the pages side of the book.

Yearbooks
Only a few left!!  Prep Yearbooks for sale at $55.00 each – cash or check payable to Anthem Prep.

Archway Yearbooks – SOLD OUT!

Prep Yearbooks are being sold “first come first serve“upon receipt of payment.   Please email Mrs. Grubaugh at DGrubaugh@anthemprep.org to add your name to the list of students interested and bring payment to the front office in an envelope marked “MRS. GRUBAUGH/YEARBOOK” to secure your yearbook.

5/16 2020 Great Hearts College Tour Information Sessions

Great Hearts College Counseling is pleased to announce our summer 2020 college tour to the Pacific Northwest. This tour is open to all current 9th and 10th grade students. During our five-day program in early June, you can expect to visit up to eight wonderfully diverse schools including the University of Washington and the University of Portland. Along with the campus tours, students will have the opportunity to interact with admissions professionals, attend a college essay writing workshop and explore what best fit college means to them. Rachel Corcos, the Lincoln Prep college counselor, will be accompanying all student travelers for the entirety of the trip. The logistics are all taken care of through EF Tours!

I hope you consider joining us for the information session to learn more about the itinerary, schools we are visiting, price and how to secure your spot for the  tour. We believe this is a wonderful investment for you and your students college process, please join us to learn why.

There is a mandatory meeting for anyone who wishes to join us on tour. If you have questions, or wish to attend the tour but cannot make it to the meeting, please reach out to Rachel Corcos at Rcorcos@Lincolnprep.org.

Please CLICK HERE  for semester two final exam schedule. In the event that your student will be absent for any of their Final Exams, please be sure to contact Mr. Bertain (wbertain@anthemprep.org) as soon as possible. We will work to schedule a time for your student to take his or her exam early.

Please drop off clean clothes on the sidewalk by the parking lot on Friday 5/24 11:30am – 12:30pm.

5/24 Spirit Shirt Day – All School

K – 12th grade students may wear approved spirit shirts, still following other uniform guidelines.

5/24 End of Year Ice Cream Truck

5/25 Golf Team Fundraising Scramble

6/25-6/26 Anton Uniforms Back to School Sale
June 25th and June 26th please visit Anton Uniforms for your back to school clothes and receive 10% off along with free shipping on any out of stock items.  This will also include any online sales for the two days as well, except customers will be responsible for shipping costs on online orders.

7/8-7/26 Great Hearts Institute for Classical Education
This summer (July 8-26), the Great Hearts Community is invited to participate in classes and seminars on liberal arts. Learn about the history of Classical Education, or explore pivotal primary texts.  Please see attached FLYER  for more details and registration information.

7/11-7/14 Barnes and Noble Book Fair
Barnes and Noble Book Fair will be held July 11-14 and August 1-4 in store and on line. Families will be given a specific book fair number to use for their online shopping to ensure our school gets credit for the purchase – this information will be available shortly and will be sent out to families and put in the newsletter.

7/13 2019-20 Season Sport Physicals
Sport Physicals for the 2019-20 Season will be held on July 13th 12:30-2:30.  A link will be coming soon to schedule a time for your physical.  Sport physicals will be done by Dr. Foy at Choice Medical, 3624 W. Anthem Way, C-122, Anthem, AZ for $25 each (cash only please).  All proceeds will be donated back to Anthem Prep Sports.  Please have your physical paperwork filled out when you arrive – CLICK HERE for paperwork. 7/22-7/26 One 10 Basketball Camp 3rd – 12th Grade
Just a reminder the deadline to register is June 5th – less than a  month away. You can sign up now and pay later if that is needed. 

This summer (July 22-26) Anthem Prep will host the One10 basketball camp (formerly Advantage Basketball) where players will develop great ball handling skills, shooting and games.  Both boys and girls, from 3rd grade to 12th, are welcome to attend. Deadline to sign up is June 5th.  Please sign up early, spots are limited.

The regular, non AP price is $260 – AP gets a big discount at just $175. This camp is VERY much worth the cost (plus AP Basketball gets $25 for every signed up player). You won’t find many camps in that price range that go 8-5 all week and definitely not in our home gym 🙂
